the last Day of the dog days of summer blog fest :(

So the question today is the one that I have been looking forward to the most. It is...

If you could have the ultimate vacation ever, where and what would it be?

This is so easy for me, as I dream of America.
Ever since I was a little girl I longed to go to America, sadly my one vacation abroad my parents choose Spain, which although beautiful is not America.

There are so many things I would love to see in America but the ultimately vacation for me, would be driving route 66, I have longed to do this as long as I can remember and am determined that one day I will. Even if I am old, grey and wrinkled, I will drive the route 66, or more likely, as I do not drive, blag someone to go with me to drive route 66 for me, while I get to enjoy all the scenery from the passenger seat.

There is no single thing that I can say attracts me to America, it is just pretty much everything and I am ever concious that lots of the things I fell in love with America for are slowly vanishing, like drive in movie theatres, and traditional American diners, and I so badly do not want to miss out on these things.

I love America so much that I do not just want to visit but long to live there one day, here's hoping I haven't used up my dream quota lol.

So where would you love to go on vacation?
If you  could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

I'm thinking Onalaska, Wisconsin as I have friends there, it is so pretty and I like the idea of being next to the Mississippi, how about you?

love and hugs Joss xx

  3. That's a cool wish and one I hope you realize one day, my friend.

I have driven Route 66 on at least two occasions and it is awesome. Some stretches are very sparse and desolate, but the old signs, towns, motels, etc are awesome.

Arizona is perhaps the most interesting part of Route 66 to me because of the spectacular mountain and desert scenery.

Here's hoping you make it there one day soon!

    Cheers.

  4. America is beautiful, but here's the funny thing Joss. I'd love to visit jolly old England! I'm excited to read Insane Reno for your descriptions of a place I've never been so I can imagine it. I've always imagined what it would be like to be out on the moors...I hope you make it here someday. Route 66 is fun, and no worries, there are still a few Drive Ins around. We still have one in the Sacramento area of California : )

    1. I have had a thing for America ever since I was young, it just appeals so much and I am so pleased there are still drive ins, as I so badly want to go to one. Oh Cornwall is beautiful especially the moors, I spent a large part of my childhood roaming the moors with my dogs. I get someone to drop me up there in the morning, with just my dogs and I wander all over all day until they came to collect me of an evening. There is an old airfield called Davidstow airfield, at the entrance to the moor from my end with lots of old buildings and the old control tower that you can go inside and wander round and they have a lovely war museum just on the edge of the airfield now. The control tower can be a bit spooky on your own and is believed to be haunted, as are some of the other buildings I believe. But for me as a child it was just a great place for adventure and imagination. Plenty of myths and spooky stories connected to the moors too that makes for lots of interesting reading and ideas for authors lol.
